Seattle, WA - 16 April, 2008 –Zynchros, Inc., a leading provider of Pharmacy Quality Management (PQM) solutions to the healthcare industry, announced today a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) module, Commercial Plan Pro™, the latest addition to the Zynchros.com PQM platform.  Commercial Plan Pro is purpose-built to enable health plans to automate the creation, management and distribution of accurate and timely commercial formularies for all audiences.

The use of English-language rules sets allows the health plan pharmacist to include or exclude drugs, classify benefit information and apply utilization management edits faster and with greater accuracy.  Rules can be based on 14-standard fields including: Brand Name Code, AHFS or USP Therapeutic Class, Dosage Form, Generic / Brand status, GPI, Ingredient, Manufacturer, Multi-Source Code, NDC, OTC Status, Package Size, Route of Administration, Strength and Trade name.  An additional 20 user-defined fields can also be used as the basis for formulary inclusion or exclusion.  Once the rules sets have been built, they can be easily copied and manipulated to create additional formularies.

As updates are issued to the underlying drug database, existing rules are applied to the new drug information.  Pharmacists will no longer be required to maintain individual drugs, even in step-therapy protocols, eliminating the need for manual maintenance, saving time and money.

Commercial Plan Pro builds on the power of the Zynchros.com platform.  The web-based, collaborative environment provides full version control with audit trails and custom workflows for routing new and updated formularies for review by authorized users.  Publishing events trigger exports to internal stakeholders and pharmacy program partners such as pharmacy benefit managers, electronic prescribing networks and other healthcare IT vendors.
